A piano is the one thing in the house that is heavy, fragile, and valuable all at once, which is a nerve-racking combination for anyone thinking about moving it themselves. Get it wrong, and you could end up with a damaged floor, a cracked case, an injured back, or all three. Bobadilla’s Signature Moving moves pianos across metro Atlanta the way they are meant to be moved: slowly, deliberately, and with equipment built for the job. Family-owned and out of Norcross, we have carried uprights down staircases and grands through doorways that made the owner hold their breath. It always ends the same way, with the piano safe in its new spot.

Atlanta Piano Movers With the Right Gear, Not Just Strong Backs

The difference between a piano mover and a couple of strong guys with a dolly is the equipment, and it matters enormously. We use piano boards and skids, heavy-duty straps, and padding made for the shape and weight of an instrument. A piano carries its weight unevenly, so it has to be secured and balanced correctly, or it becomes genuinely dangerous on a ramp or a stairwell. Our crew knows how to distribute that load, protect the finish and the legs, and keep both the instrument and everyone around it out of harm’s way.

Uprights, Baby Grands, and Full Grands, All Handled

Every piano has its own quirks, and we move all of them:

  • Upright and spinet pianos, deceptively heavy for their size and awkward on stairs
  • Baby grands and grands, which often need the legs and lyre carefully removed and the body moved on its side
  • Digital and console pianos, lighter but still worth protecting properly
  • Church, school, and studio pianos, when an organization needs an instrument relocated

Tell us the make and where it lives now, and we will bring the right plan and gear.

Why a Piano Is Not Just Heavy Furniture

People assume a piano is basically a very heavy dresser. It is not. The weight sits unevenly, the finish scratches if you look at it the wrong way, and careless handling can jar the internal action. That is why we treat piano moving as its own craft rather than lumping it in with the couch. If your item is heavy but not a piano, our large item movers handle safes, gym equipment, and similar items, and general furniture goes to that crew. Pianos get the specialists. One good note: any piano tends to need tuning after a move, simply because it has been moved, so plan to have yours tuned once it has settled in its new home.
